Foam Body Cutters

We can make custom cutters to your specifications.  This is our usual procedure for the process:

• We need a drawing or cutout of the shape that you want.  You can send it by regular mail or fax or as a jpg attachment – whichever is easiest for you.  This allows us to know the exact size and shape that you need.

• If you send a fax or electronic drawing, we also need the dimensions, so that we can match your design precisely.

• The cost varies – depending on the degree of difficulty and amount of materials needed for the shape.  Since we always have new patterns under development, if your pattern is similar to something that we already have in progress, we can keep your cost down.

• Custom cutter prices range from $15 to $30 each, plus shipping.

• Once we receive your pattern with dimensions, we can come up with a more exact figure. 

• When we receive the go-ahead from you, we proceed to make the cutter.

• Custom cutters usually take about two weeks, sometimes less – it just depends on the degree of difficulty and how many other orders we have going at the time.

• We maintain your specifications on file, should you need additional cutters made in the future

• We consider the designs that you send us to be proprietary.  We do not share your designs with anyone else, nor do we use them for our own purposes.  Any designs published in magazines, on line or through other media, we no longer consider proprietary.

River Road Creations wing and foam body cutters provide

• The hallmark of fine fly tying is consistency. But, no matter how hard you try, it's virtually impossible to cut materials exactly the same way each time with scissors. The result is flies that each look slightly different - an aggravation to the amateur and professional tyer alike! Our cutters eliminate this problem, producing identical wings and bodies, time after time.

• The variety of wing and cutter shapes we produce is unmatched in the industry and we're constantly making additions to our line. Our cutters are made by experienced fly tyers who look for tying solutions as each new cutter is designed.

• The craftsmanship that goes into our cutters, hand-made in Montana, results in an attractive addition to your fly tying desk. We utilize durable, double-edged steel blades set in beautifully-grained Northwestern hardwoods. Individual cutters are available, as well as matched sets, which are seated in a solid, matching tool caddy specially designed to fit that set, providing organized and safe storage.

• With proper use, we've cut over two thousand foam bodies with one cutter - real value for your money. Our special, self-healing cutting pads allow for repeated cutting with minimal wear on the cutting edges. If you are able to wear one of these pads out (and that means you've tied many a fly!), replacement pads are available.

• Custom cutters are available. If you have a new idea, or are a professional tyer with unique needs for a proprietary pattern, let us know. For a very reasonable charge, we can probably manufacture a custom cutter for you.
