Hopper Pronotum Cutters

   
 
For the realistic fly tyer, these pronotum cutters offer the height of realism.  Sure, the trout probably can't see that funny looking "shield" on the top of the hopper, but for the realistic tyer, the pronotum is a critical component to tying realism.  Call us crazy, but we couldn't just ignore this part of the true hopper in our designs.

Using the Pronotum Cutter
(You know the drill: Click on photos to enlarge)

 
Pronotum cutter, pronotum material and cutting pad ready to use.
(For photo/demo purposes, we have used River Wing® material.  For actual tying, we use closed-cell foam or River Foam® material)

  Fold pronotum material prior to use

Place open sections of pronotum cutter on the fold of the desired pronotum material.  Make cut.
 

The final pronotum shape will be perfectly symmetrical and is ready to use
